Who is Dawn Sweitzer? Dawn Sweitzer is a multi-medium artist. This year, she merged her lifestyle brand Notre Monde with Ethnicraft and is the lead designer for Ethnicrafts’ accessory line. She also just launched her studio brand of paintings that can be seen worldwide and is in major stores such as Anthropology.
How has she influenced you as a creative & how has that influenced the way you decided to depict her through photography? I absolutely love Dawn as a person. She and I are so similar in how we think and what we want. When photographing her, I really just wanted her to BE HER. That way, I could do my best to pull out who she is as a person. We honestly didn’t plan much.
Since you are an artist yourself, was it interesting or educational to watch and shoot Dawn while she was painting? The best part of this experience was realizing that Dawn was comfortable enough with me to fully be in her zone and create. I know that there are very few people that I can let in like that when I paint. The fact that she was able to with me, I took that as a huge compliment.
